Borneo, Sarawak Land Dayak
Land Dayaks (or Bidayuh), inhabit western Kalimantan and southern Sarawak. Though Land Dayak now live alongside streams, they once lived on fortified hilltops. That feature which most distinguishes the Land Dayaks from other Dayaks is their long and pervasive contact with the Chinese, who came to trade, and with the Dutch and the Malay, who came as both traders and colonizers. This saber may have been a trade item, with the anthropomorphic stylized figure on the handle.
